The policies set forth here are to protect the community and our event and make it enjoyable and safe for all. Everyone is expected to adhere to any policies set forth by the event and its producers, here and as published elsewhere.
Sound Policy: Amplified sound is an integral part of a music and arts event such as ours. Artistic expression through the medium of sound is highly encouraged and appreciated by our community and organization, provided it does not threaten the event as a whole. Unfortunately, the cumulative and far-reaching effects of sound can potentially impact our neighbors. This sound policy is designed to protect the artistic freedom enjoyed by participants, whilst preventing any adverse impact on neighboring properties.
Note: All subs must be elevated off the ground. No exceptions. Elevating subs off the ground drastically reduces the distance noise will travel, be prepared to isolate subs from contact with the ground.
No SunBurn citizen may operate an amplified sound system within the event boundaries of SunBurn without permission from the department leads. All amplified sound must strictly adhere to the rules and regulations set forth in the SunBurn Sound Policy. Every amplified sound system must be declared at the gate and a Sound Sponsor must sign the Sound Release Form indicating that he/she will be responsible for ensuring that the sound system is operated in accordance with the SunBurn Sound Policy. Every Sound Sponsor must obtain a Sound Permit from a Sound Marshal and display it conspicuously near the sound system for the duration of the event. A specific sound pressure limit will be set prior to each year’s event and is subject to change at any time at the request of the event producers. Failure to comply with the SunBurn Sound Policy or failure to comply with explicit directives from Sound Marshals, Rangers, Regulator, or the producers will result in disciplinary action as outlined in the procedure section of the SunBurn Sound Policy. SPL levels are designed to protect the event from external complaints. However, this level may not be appropriate at the event during certain hours of the day or in certain locations/situations. In the spirit of community, lower SPLs can and may need to be negotiated due to internal conflicts within the Enchantment community. These internal negotiations are expected to be fair and reasonable with utmost respect given to artistic expression while also taking into account the needs of the greater community.
Fire and Open Flame Policy: Fire is one of our most highly regarded elements in our culture. However, we must ensure that all fires and open flames are safe and do not jeopardize our attendees or our land. Due to the confines of a treed space in the mountains no open fires are permitted in camping or other areas. We hope (subject to burn ban restrictions) to have two open communal fire pits available at the event. Other than these dedicated fire space no other fires will be permitted.
Propane cooking vessels and propane fire pits are permitted. A fire extinguisher must be placed near to propane equipment. No fuel shall be stored withing 100 ft of any open flame. .

We also understand that there may be a need for participants to leave our event for a brief period and return. We will have a limited number of vehicle re-entry passes available at the gate inside the event. Should you need to leave, please come to the gate in advance to obtain a permit to drive through and return to SunBurn. We are accepting your generous $10 donations for the NM Burners Art Fund as a courtesy for providing re-entry. The monies from re-entry passes will go to support the art for our next event.
